How to Use the Claw Bud Scratch Board
What You Need Your Claw Bud Scratch Board and your dog's favorite small treat.
Step 1: Load the Treat Place a small treat inside the compartment in the center of the board. Make sure your dog watches you do this so they know the reward is in there.
Step 2: Close the Compartment Slide the compartment shut and set the board down in front of your dog.
Step 3: Let Them Scratch Your dog will naturally start pawing and scratching at the board trying to get to the treat. This is exactly what you want!
Step 4: Reward Early (At First) In the beginning, slide the compartment open almost immediately after they start scratching. The goal is to help them make the connection: scratching the board equals treat.
Step 5: Gradually Increase the Wait As your dog gets the hang of it, start waiting a little longer before opening the compartment. A few extra seconds each session is enough. Over time, your dog will scratch longer and more confidently before expecting the reward.
Tips for Success
- Keep treats small so your dog stays motivated across multiple rounds.
- Always end on a win so your dog stays excited about the board.
- Practice in short sessions of 5 to 10 minutes to keep it fun and stress-free.

How To Replace Scratching Paper.
When the scratching surface starts to wear down, replacing it is simple.
Step 1: Remove the Old Paper Peel back a corner of the scratching paper and pull it off the board — it should come off cleanly, though if your pup has been especially enthusiastic it may come off in a couple of pieces. No worries either way!
Step 2: Attach the New Paper Take a new replacement sheet and press it firmly onto the board. The paper is adhesive and designed specifically for the Claw Bud Scratch Board, so it will stick securely right into place.
Step 3: You're Done That's it! Your board is ready to go again.
